I lived the first 18 years of my life in an old house that we rented from this company. It was a special house for many reasons. The old house eventually became condemned and we had to move. My father was 63 when he died. He had a massive heart attack that February from all the moving he had to do because of the lack of help we had. Ok, sounds like fun, but I wonder where you can put this. The movie depicts her driving around with the house, but you couldn't just plunk it down by the side of the road,or in a corn field you'd need to own land. What other alternatives would there be to place this home? An RV park? Also, loading it onto a big truck and driving the home around kind of defeats the purpose of living cheaply. How much fuel is she burning in her big truck hauling her big load?

1. I agree that cosiness and warmth are much more important than luxary. 2. When you live alone you don't need lot of space, but not everybody lives like that. Sounds like my fiance and I. We live in a truck camper on a campground year round although it has a full bathroom and all. @tandmllc This house itself doesn't require any special maintenance. My rainwater collection requires manually switching a valve when there is no water in the tanks. Much of the key to a strong, maintenance-free house, I think, is to study well before you build. Earthen plasters require protection from the weather and I have now coated mine with lime - I think that is a good idea for long-term durability. Get a good builder as a guide, so you build something durable.

OK....This is a great video but you had a LOT of help. Maybe you paid them...maybe you didn't. At $50 K with the depreciating property values, people would still be better shopping for conventional housing. I'm a green building fan but unfortunately price rules. 99% of normal people could not put together this labor force shown in this video presuming they are free. I love the idea but don't like the pricetag. Conventional but smaller still wins.
